Position: Technical Writer II

Description
Bowman Systems, LLC seeks a Technical Writer for our Web Based Client Tracking and Case Management system. This candidate will be responsible for the management and creation of required business and system documents in adherence to appropriate standards during business or technical writing processes and projects. These documents could include procedures, user manuals, system operation and recovery instructions, training curriculum, training guides, project proposals, newsletters, presentations, and system design documents. This employee will work closely with management, technical personnel, authors, and subject matter experts to define documentation content, guidelines, specifications, and development schedules.

This position requires strong interpersonal and motivational skills with the ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences, coupled with a patient, ego-less approach to planning and troubleshooting. Excellent written communication is of the highest priority, as well as proficiency in the use of personal computers and various software applications. The ideal candidate must be a team player, have a well disciplined / organized approach to time and task management, and exhibit qualities that illustrate a dedication to quality and complete customer satisfaction.

Position

Education and Typical Years of Experience
Bachelor degree in Technical Writing, Communications, English, Journalism, or comparable degree, or equivalent work experience. Minimum of 2-4 years of relevant professional work experience.

Required Qualifications
  • Superior writing and editing skills with the ability to digest large amounts of information into a clear, concise format needed for technical and training documentation
  • Excellent working understanding of software technology
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills with the ability to interpret technical information and independently develop technical / operational knowledge of Bowman Systems technologies
  • Strong creative skills
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills for effective interaction with both technical and non-technical individuals
  • Knowledge of instructional design process and adult learning principles, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite of products
  • Organized, goal oriented, motivated self starter who can work well in a team environment
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with HTML & Robohelp
  • Experience with various authoring, multimedia and/or CBT software
  • Web-based training design/development
  • Knowledge / Understanding of Social Service Organizations
