Position: Software Programmer

Bowman Systems, L.L.C. seeks a Software Programmer for working with web-based database systems delivering services in an Application Service Provider environment. Bowman Systems develops and markets the world’s most trusted, secure and comprehensive web-based social services software, and as such, we require a dedicated professional for this position.
 
This individual will be responsible for working on Bowman System’s newest product, GatherPath.
 
The person hired for this position will be tasked with a broad spectrum of programming duties. Some duties include: work with Business Development Manager and Product Manager to analyze new User requests for feasibility and integration; develop detailed specifications for new product enhancements; assist Quality Assurance and Client Support Specialists in investigating critical issues and provide solutions for such; review various standards by governmental and other agencies for possible changes and adherence in Bowman’s products.
 
As noted above this individual will have strong interaction with other departments in the company which will require strong interpersonal skills and good written communication. Due to the fast-paced, small-team setting this individual will need to be able to work effectively with minimal supervision and also to collaborate with others in a group environment.

Education and Typical Years of Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
 
Required Qualifications:
  • Web development experience working with at least one of the following languages: PHP, Java, .NET
  • Experience working with SQL databases
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to think quickly and offer alternatives
  • Organized, goal oriented, motivated self starter who can work well in a small team environment
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience coding HTML, XHTML, CSS and JavaScript by hand for database driven web applications
  • Experience writing code using PHP, AJAX, PostgreSQL, Zend Framework, jQuery, YUI
  • Object oriented programming experience
  • Previous team-working experience
  • Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating system environments
  • Any experience with Flash, ColdFusion, JAVA, or PERL is appreciated but not required
Additional Skills that would be a plus:
  • Experience with Crystal Reports (using and deploying overall product; building complex reports)
  • Experience writing code using SQL in other databases (PLSQL, Oracle, etc)
  • Quality Assurance testing experience at another web / software company
  • Knowledge / Understanding of Social Service Organizations
