Susan G. Komen for the Cure is a name known worldwide for leading the global movement to end breast cancer. What started as a promise to a dying sister has grown to the world’s largest network for cancer victims, survivors, and activists. Susan G. Komen for the Cure is the largest source of nonprofit funding with an undying devotion to fight breast cancer while empowering the world with support and dedication to its cause.
While the facts and statistics of breast cancer are staggering, Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s   fulfillment of their pledge to fight the war against breast cancer is triumphant. They have invested over $1 billion dollars in the fight against breast cancer with a rigorous promise to invest an additional $2 billion over the next ten years. Besides money, Susan G. Komen for the Cure dedicates countless volunteer hours and support throughout the world, including 125 affiliate sites throughout the nation. They have the “passion for pink” and the whole world knows it. They are successful in getting local communities involved in their efforts to raise awareness and after 25 years they are stronger than ever.   Susan G. Komen for the Cure has transformed awareness of breast cancer, support for patients and survivors, and breast cancer research into a recognized “charity of choice” for millions of Americans.

An estimated 40,480 women and 450 men will die from breast cancer in the US alone during 2008. Susan G. Komen for the Cure wants to insure everyone has access to resources necessary for support because no one should have to face cancer alone. Therefore, they are implementing a searchable, on-line resource directory to be used by the organization’s local affiliates in 125 cities across the country. This directory will house information about the local affiliates (including contact information, locations, volunteer opportunities, area news, and events) as well as the same type of information for any agency or organization in the community that provides services for the prevention, detection, and treatment of breast cancer. To achieve this endeavor Susan G. Komen for the Cure turned to Bowman Systems, the leader in Social Service software products, to implement CommunityPoint as their resource directory cornerstone.
Through its progressive design, CommunityPoint enables community coalitions and national organizations to quickly and easily publish information to the web without the burden and expense of developing and deploying a complex internal program. CommunityPoint enables organizations to provide instant access to vital program and provider information via web sites that are easy for people to understand and simple for agencies to update and customize.   This software technology is a viable integration into Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s quest for further awareness and community outreach.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s implementation of CommunityPoint is the first by Bowman Systems that will incorporate our Advanced Reporting Tool (ART). ART will permit their organization to produce a variety of reports detailing resources and services available within each affiliate’s region with in-depth business analysis capabilities.
Bowman Systems is honored to be called upon for assistance by such a compassionate and worthy cause as the fight to find a cure for breast cancer. Bowman Systems extends both thanks and admiration for the work and unmatched devotion put forth by Susan G. Komen for the Cure , an organization that makes a difference. Thanks to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, what started as wish by one has turned into an answered prayer for many.
