1. What is CommunityPoint?

CommunityPoint is a website application designed to increase public access to community resources. It enables agency personnel and managers of information and referral (I & R) data to edit and publish data in a real time environment. CommunityPoint provides seamless integration with the ResourcePoint data captured in your local community’s ServicePoint installation.

2. What do I need to run CommunityPoint?

You need a computer that has internet access. CommunityPoint is a web-based application that is accessed using any common web browser, e.g. Internet Explorer, Netscape, or Mozilla.

3. What are the different components of CommunityPoint?
  The web application and database.

4. How soon can my agency / organization implement CommunityPoint?
The application can be set up in just a few days. Populating the database with information and referral data can be entered manually by users at each agency, or data can be imported through a batch process from another database. For those communities with a ServicePoint installation, CommunityPoint can be set up to share the ServicePoint database.

5. Do the CommunityPoint licensing fees cover my Internet Access costs?
  No, internet costs are separate.

6. Will anyone else have access to my data?
No. The data you input into the system is secured and cannot be accessed by users outside your implementation. The agency profile is the only data in CommunityPoint that is made available for public viewing by anyone looking for community resources.

7. Who owns the data we put into CommunityPoint?
You do. Upon request, Bowman Systems can deliver an electronic data file to you.

8. What standard reports does CommunityPoint generate?
There are no standard reports in Community Point. There is the ability to download the directory for use away from the application. There is also the ability to view Website statistics. These statistics can be reset by the CommunityPoint administrator.

9. Can CommunityPoint generate custom reports?

Since there is no client data, there are no reports.

10. Can I convert data from a legacy database into CommunityPoint?

Data can be converted from a legacy database and imported into CommunityPoint.

11. Does Bowman Systems provide training for CommunityPoint?
Training is generally conducted via WebEx presentation. Please call your sales executive for pricing.

12. What does CommunityPoint use for its I&R database standard?
  Microsoft SQL Server

13. Can the CommunityPoint “look and feel” be customized to meet my specific needs?
There are several standard templates used to create new instances of CommunityPoint. However, Bowman has a Professional Service department, and upon request, can create custom templates to provide a unique “look and feel” for a community. An additional fee may apply.
